“I think the only way to really define a spiritual experience is experiencing something so overwhelming and complete, whether it be a good feeling or a bad feeling. Like being so angry or just laughing at something. It’s about just letting an emotion really wash over you in a complete and powerful way. That’s the closest thing you can get to having a spiritual experience. The day we put Tosch down I just felt so much sadness, I felt like I was experiencing everyone’s sadness that has ever hurt in all of history. Now that I’m saying this out loud I think I’ve actually felt a spiritual experience a lot more than just that one time. Anytime I’ve laughed until I’ve cried, that’s a spiritual experience. Something you participate in with people that you are relating to all just because something is so fucking hilarious you cannot control yourselves. Those emotions wash over you and it’s real and feels tangible. You know? You can feel it. I think that’s what connects us, and that’s our spirituality. Emotion, and really being able to feel. Because it’s not unique to any class or race or gender, or not even really unique to humans either, it’s with animals and all living things really. Feeling emotion and being in tune with that, it’s spiritual.”
