NO.4 Dylan Govender, 19 - April 29, 2018.
“I would say that loyalty is the most important thing in relationships, but you can’t really be loyal without communication. Communication is the biggest contributor to everything working. I think a lot of people are not so much mean, but just selfish these days. Like, there is nothing I can do on my own. Even with coding and physics in engineering, everything involves a partnership. Everyone has to team up for the same problem so you can get all the different perspectives and see everything more efficiently and things won’t work if somebody’s just picking around and doing their own thing. It’s kind of easy to be a terrible person, especially in college, where you don’t have to show anybody who you really are. For me it’s just like, don’t be a piece of shit. Whenever I do something I think, is this something a piece of shit would do? I was a piece of shit to someone the other day, just said something sarcastic, and I didn’t like that I did that. So, I don’t have any profound thing, it’s much less than mundane. I just don’t feel like I need anything to prove why I believe in what I believe in. I hate to be that dude that’s like I grew up in Christianity so that what I believe, but I have friends from a lot of different backgrounds and most of it just sounds the same. I don’t even know if I’d say another religion is wrong, much less that mine is right. Just, try not to be a piece of shit, really.”
